Creating the look

Part of being in a band takes preparation.  One of the first things we have to think about is how we want our band to look. As we are and Indie rock band, it would make sense to look at existing Indie rock bands that can inspire us. For example The Kooks.

The Kooks

In this image of The Kooks, all of the members are wearing black skinny jeans, and the tops seem to be t shirts and in some cases a blazer. Indie Rock bands seem to have a grunge look about them. Other bands to take into consideration are The 1975, Catfish and the Bottleman and Hozier.

Hozier

A recurring thing that stands out in all these photos is they all seem to be wearing back skinny jeans. The prominent colours are back and white in all of these Indie rock bands. This includes their album covers too. However Hozier, is an Indie rock artist and he also incorporates colour into his album covers and outfits.

However when theses bands are in a gig situation, the lead singer seems to be at the front, with the bass and guitar behind and then drums. However we are going to have to change this formation slightly as we have lead and rhythm guitar as well as bass.

To change this formation we could have the lead and rhythm guitar on different sides, and the bass player could be centered a little more the two guitarists but not so they are behind the vocalist as everyone needs to be seen.

The Ideas to take into consideration here is the main colours, black and white need to be incorporated into the outfits we wear. The main items of clothing that are commonly worn by these bands are black skinny jeans and black and white t shirts, occasionally with a blazer or some sort of jacket, and sometimes a black hat. Also we should take the formations into consideration for when we start to gig as a band.
