WC 19.10.2015 The Story So Far

My Contribution To The Band

As I'm the singer for the band, I'm quite good at writing songs.  So I have been writing some of the songs for the band and giving constructive criticism as to what might not sound quite right and how I imagined the song to go when I wrote the lyrics. I also work with Bailey and Elisha when I have writers block and ask them for some ideas as they are also good at writing lyrics.  I also helped to pick our band name which is 'Kodimoor' .

I have contributed to the style of our music as I have been doing a lot of research on existing bands and artists that would suit the style of music we wanted to do, which is indie rock.  We have all contributing in different ways individually but some times out ideas clash, so we all have to negotiate and make a group decision, this could be by doing a majority vote or just by deciding as a group what's better for the band or a song.

Once I've written a song I'll show it to the band and get a second opinion on the lyrics at which point we'll either rearrange the song, change some of the words. I always find that getting the bands opinion makes the song better and the band closer as a team which is important as our good team bond will reflect when we perform as we will interact with each other and look like we're having fun together and like we want to be there, which will create a better atmosphere and experience for the audience.

We have just had a band member added to Kodimoor so I think we need to bond more as a band as I think if we don't it could become an area of weakness, as if we are just performing with each other and not making an effort to get along I think that will show when we perform as we won't interact with each other and it could make us look like we're bored and we don't really want to be performing.
I think another area of weakness is sometimes the band gets distracted which slows our progress down so we need to stay focussed in order to make progress each week. I think our main strength as a band is working together to come up with new original songs, this is because George comes up with guitar riffs pretty quickly which enables me to come up with a melody to write the lyrics too and then Elisha follows George with a bass line and Jordan comes  up with some chords that will go with Georges riff. Then Bailey comes up with either a solo or follows George or Jordan and Jayden comes up with a drum beat and then we'll add the lyrics. I feel that we do work well as a band and we all have the same passion.

I think by ccommunicating and getting along as a ban has helpd our band bond overall and it lso helps in our writig progress. This is because we all know each others strengths and weaknesseswhen it come to playing as a ban, for example one of George's strengths is coming up with solos to break down the songs play. He is also good at makig up catchy riffs that we can then build a sog arou, which is how our second song 'Leave it all behind' came about. Knowing each others strengths and weaknesses helps us to build and play a strong song/ set. For example my band knows what styles I can sing in so we tend to build a song looking at those styles.

Planning and Prep

Set List

As it stands at the minute, we have no idea on the set list as we are still in the process of writing songs. We have completed two songs so far and are working on our third song, so we are probably well on our way to creating a set list that will be suitable.

Jobs

One of the main jobs we needed to do was come up with a band name which we have now done, our band name is 'Kodimoor'. We still need to write some more songs and make sure the previous songs are polished. We also need to make sure we have a band image, we have an idea we just need to put it into play. Also Elisha would like to play guitar on some of the songs so we need to make sure she also gets a chance to play guitar, we can do this by moving one of the guitar plays on to bass.

Skills I aim to use

I aim to use my skills to work in a tam and contribute as much as possible to be able to help the band become successful. I also aim to learn of other people in the band and take in any constructive criticism they have to offer about lyrics I write. Also I think by learning skills off the other people in the band it can help me to grow as an artist.

Performance

I think overall the performance is going well however I feel that as a singer I need to gain more confidence and gain some sort of stage presence as at the minute I feel like I'm just stood there. I feel that in able to improve my stage presence, I should watch other bands and artists live on YouTube to see how they  perform and work the audience. I also think that in order to become successful and over come our competition we have to stand out. In order to do this we have to write about different topics and have a unique look about us, but also be able to connect with our audience and fans and become involved with the fans and followers that we gain. We also have to be real people and show people yes we are serious about what we do but we're still down to earth real people.

The Audience

The audience can expect music that talks about different topics other than love songs. When we perform the audience can expect a mix of genres as we are not stuck to one genre, we just write a riff and some lyrics and build the rest around it to whatever we think sounds good. I think the  most important thing for us as a band is that we have a good time performing, writing and recording and the fans and the audience appreciates our music and has fun listening to it and they get involved and interact with us.
